Jasper PD receives Elks Lodge donation

Posted

On Friday, the Jasper Elks Lodge presented a donation to the Jasper Police Department to help them purchase equipment for a police vehicle.

Jasper Elks Lodge members Barbara Higgins, the lodge’s exalted ruler, and Jean Tune, the lodge’s treasurer, presented the check to Assistant Police Chief Paul Tucker. The $1,000 donation was given to the police department in order to buy a generator for their critical incident response team van.

“We are very appreciative of the donation,” Tucker said.

He added that these funds will help the police in being able to set up a command post if one is needed when they respond to major incidents.

The donation was funded through the Elks National Foundation’s Gratitude Grant.

The Elks National Foundation’s website explains that a Gratitude Grant should be used to actively serve the community and “offer an opportunity for Elks to think about how best to strengthen their community.”
