A Walker County man was shot in the head while driving on U.S. Interstate 59 Saturday, according to multiple media reports.

A Go Fund Me page has been established for Marcus Mauldin, who is currently recovering in a Birmingham hospital.

According to al.com, Birmingham police East Precinct officers received a report at about 1:30 p.m. Saturday of a person in a dark vehicle randomly shooting in the area of I-59 southbound in the area of Tallapoosa Street and Birmingham-Shuttlesworth International Airport.

Two vehicles were struck with gunfire, according to al.com. Mauldin was the only person injured during the incident. No arrest has been reported.

According to the Go Fund Me page, which has raised nearly $2,000, Mauldin was shot in the head while driving on the interstate with his wife. The couple has two young daughters.

"Though this was a random act of violence we are asking for your Intentional love, prayers, and support of this beautiful family. We are so very thankful for God’s grace and love in the midst of this tragedy," a post on the page states.
