Magdalene Phillips Cole, age 89, of Empire, Alabama went to be with her Lord and Savior Thursday, September 6, 2018.
She was a member of Dilworth Freewill Baptist Church. Magdalene was a great mother and grandmother who loved all of her family dearly. She was an excellent cook and liked to quilt.
Magdalene is preceded in death by her first husband, Horace Phillips; parents, Adley and Ethel Pittman; brothers, Bertis, James, Jimmy, and Virgil “Buddy” Pittman; sons-in-law, Delbert McDaniel, Roy Davenport and Ricky Powell; and granddaughter, Heather Phillips.
Magdalene is survived by her husband, Sam Cole; sons, Charles Phillips (Barbara) of Dilworth, David Phillips of Nauvoo, Tommy Phillips of Dilworth, and Terry Phillips (Renee) of Dilworth; daughters, Irene Davenport of Empire, Linda Stacks (Ronald) of Bremen, Becky Powell of Sumiton, Teresa Bland (David) of Empire, and Brandy Walker (David) of Mount Olive; brother, Henry Pittman (Lulamae) of Empire; as well as eight grandchildren, fifteen great-grandchildren, seven great-great-grandchildren, and several extended family members.
Services will be held at New Horizon Memorial Funeral Home. Visitation will be held today, September 8, 2018, from 5:00 until 7:00 p.m. Funeral services will be Sunday, September 9, 2018, at 2:00 p.m. Burial will follow in the New Horizon Memorial Cemetery.
