Mary Alice Edgil Hodgson, 78, of Eldridge, passed away Saturday, Nov. 19, 2016, at Walker Rehabilitation Center in Carbon Hill.
Hodgson was born on May 7, 1938, in Fayette County, a daughter of James Bervin Edgil and Tilda Ann Tidwell Edgil; resident of Eldridge most of her life; widow of Charles Hodgson; previously employed with Health-Tex in Guin for 20 years; and she attended Pleasant Hill Church of God.
In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by three daughters, Jerry Faye Tucker, Tommy Lasha Burkett and Kathy Ann Gilbert; one brother, Paul Edgil; and one sister, Christine Tucker.
Survivors include two daughters, Sarah Alice Myers and her husband, Edgar, of Nauvoo, and Lorrie Lee Piper and her husband, Michael, of Jasper; two sons, Elbert Lloyd Tucker and his wife, Nancy, of Guin, and Stephon Ray Tucker and his wife, Connie, of Carbon Hill; 19 grandchildren; host of great-grandchildren; one sister, Rachael Pair and her husband, Tefford, of Carbon Hill; and two brothers, Cullan Edgil and his wife, Irene, and James Bervin “J.B.” Edgil and his wife, Shirley, of Berry; nieces, nephews and other relatives.
Funeral services will be held today, Nov. 22, 2016, at 11 a.m. at McGraw Memorial Chapel of Miles Funeral Home in Winfield. Burial will follow at Tidwell Chapel Cemetery.
Visitation was Monday, Nov. 21, 2016, from 6 until 8 p.m. at Miles Funeral Home.
