Oscar Jackson Kennedy, 88, of Jasper, passed away on March 3, 2018, at Ridgeview Health and Rehab Services.
Family will receive friends on Tuesday, March 6, 2018, from 1 until 2 p.m. at Kilgore-Green Funeral Home. Funeral service will follow at 2 p.m. in the Kilgore-Green Chapel. Thomas Curtis and John Warren will officiate. Burial will be at Bennett Cemetery.
Oscar was born December 12, 1929. He joined the United States Air Force in January of 1949, and retired from active duty, with an honorable discharge March 1, 1974.
Oscar loved to bass fish and in his younger years enjoyed hunting. He loved his Indian Chief motorcycle. Alabama football was the best and he occasionally let Auburn fans in the house. Granpa Jack was an “awesome” bonus grandparent to a lot of grandkids.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Oscar and Lucy Lay Kennedy; children, Bonnie and Pam Kennedy; siblings, Ayres Ream, Rev. Carl Kennedy, and Delphia Wilson; daughter-in-law, Karen Kennedy; and in-laws, Roscoe Martin and Willie Martin.
He is survived by his loving wife of 66 years, Pauline Kennedy; children, Darrel J. Kennedy, Robert “Bob” Kennedy (Joyce), Alan D. Kennedy (Kim), Douglas “Doug” Kennedy (Laurie); grandchildren, Russell Kennedy, Kristen Earn, Kara Bowden, Amy Carlson, Kevin Gillis, Benny Smith, Andrew Smith, Jada Suit, Angela Kennedy, Jimbo Kennedy, Yasmine Kennedy, Nikki Dryden, Kassi McMullin, and Christopher Kennedy; sibling, Betty Snellgrove; and 18 great-grandchildren.
