Curry picked up a pair of wins over the weekend to earn a spot in tonight's championship game of the Curry Girls Thanksgiving Tournament.

The Lady Yellow Jackets defeated both Cordova (54-4) and Berry (65-49) on Saturday.

On the opposite side of the bracket, Dora won its first two games, beating both Meek (35-29) and Curry's JV team (39-17), to advance to the title game set for 7:30 p.m. tonight. Today's games start with the fifth-place games - Curry JV vs. Cordova - at 4:30 p.m. and the third-place game - Berry vs. Meek - at 6 p.m.

Curry (2-2) opened the tournament with a 54-4 rout of Cordova. The Yellow Jackets led 18-0 after the first quarter and 36-4 at the half.

Abbey Moon paced Curry with 14 points, Morgan Davidson had 13, Rae Ann Hall put in 10, Anna Reese Woodley had seven and Keana Pearson added six.

Against Berry, Pearson led the way, knocking down four 3-pointers and finishing with 27 points in a 65-49 win.

The Wildcats led 16-7 after the first quarter only to be outscored by Curry 21-7 in the second quarter as the Jackets built a 28-23 halftime lead.

Curry led 46-32 going into the final quarter.

Both Moon and Davidson had 15 points for the Jackets. Berry's Summer Bullard made seven 3-pointers and finished with 26 points.

Winston County wins Vina Holiday Tip-Off Tournament

Winston County built a 14-point halftime lead and held off a second-half Addison rally for a 62-61 win to claim the Vina Tip-Off Tournament title on Saturday.

The Yellow Jackets led 17-9 after the opening quarter. Winston County added 19 second-quarter points to build a 36-22 lead at the half. Addison (2-1) cut the gap to nine points, 47-38, after three quarters, and scored 23 points in the final period, coming up just short.

Four players scored in double figures for Winston County. Mackenzie Blackwood had 18 points, Saige Blanton had 14 points, 13 rebounds, five assists and five steals, Hanna Alexander had 14 points and Kady Bonds added 10.

For Addison. Destiny Walker had 19 points and five rebounds, Macey Butler added 15 points and Kaylee Brummet had eight points and eight rebounds.

Winston County went 4-1 in the tournament.

The Yellow Jackets knocked off Sheffield 45-31 in their tournament opener. Blanton had 12 points, 12 rebounds and three steals, Alexander had 11 points, 15 rebounds, three steals and three blocks and Bonds added 11 points, nine rebounds and three assists.

Winston County defeated Waterloo 51-27, with Blackwood leading the team with 15 points. Blanton added nine points, five rebounds and five steals while Bonds had seven points, five rebounds and three steals.

After a 60-50 loss to host team Vina, the Jackets defeated Fayette County 63-32. Blanton had 18 points and eight rebounds, Alexander had 14 points, 10 rebounds and seven steals and Bonds had 13 points, nine rebounds and six assists.

Addison won its first two tournament games.

The Bulldogs won their opener against Whitesburg Christian. For Addison, Butler had 20 points, Walker had 12 points and nine rebounds, Brummet had 10 points and Alexandria Townsend added eight points and 14 rebounds.

In its second game, Addison topped Vina 77-73.

Brummet paced the Bulldogs with 23 points and five rebounds. Walker added 16 points and four rebounds and Butler had 15 points.

Addison plays at Marion County next Monday while Winston County hosts Winfield on Tuesday.
