Prep Basketball: Curry Girls Thanksgiving Tournament continues today

The Curry Girls Thanksgiving Basketball Tournament continues today at Curry High School.

The eight-team varsity girls tournament, which includes Curry, Carbon Hill, Sumiton Christian, Lynn, Meek, Corner, Berry and Vinemont, started on Saturday and concludes on Tuesday.

On Saturday, Curry, Carbon Hill and Berry picked up wins while Corner moved into the winner's bracket with a bye.

Today's games start at 3 p.m. with Lynn facing Sumiton Christian. In the second game, Vinemont plays Meek. The winner's bracket games start at 5:30 p.m. with Carbon Hill playing Corner. The day's games conclude with Curry battling Berry at 6:45 p.m.

The championship game is set for 6:45 p.m. on Tuesday.

Saturday's games

Curry 56, Lynn 9

Curry moved into the winner's bracket of the tournament with a 56-9 victory over Lynn on Saturday.

The Yellow Jackets led 18-1 after the first quarter, 30-5 at the half and 50-7 after three quarters.

For Curry (3-1), Abbey Moon had 15 points, Cam Wright added 12 points, Alayna Key had 11 points and both Allie Downs and Laycee Cordell put in seven points.

Carbon Hill 47, Meek 40

Alayna Ivie had 16 points and Ally Martin had 12 points and nine rebounds to lead Carbon Hill to a 47-40 victory over Meek in the Bulldogs' tournament opener on Saturday.

Carbon Hill (2-2) led 16-15 at the half and 32-24 going into the final quarter.

Kensley Barron had eight points and four assists, Katie Halbrook had four points, Zana Aderholt put in three and Alleigh Keeton had 10 rebounds.
