Prep Volleyball: Jasper's Bobby Daniels gets win No. 800

Jasper head volleyball coach Bobby Daniels broke through another career barrier on Thursday night in a tri-match at Cullman.

Daniels earned career wins No. 799 and 800 as the Lady Vikings took down the host team as well as Hazel Green, the No. 1 team in Class 6A.

In his two-plus years at Jasper, Daniels has led the Lady Vikings to a state title and a state runner up finish while compiling a 175-18 record, including a 70-5 mark last season. The team went 57-5 two years ago.

Jasper (48-8) will host the Class 5A, Area 11 Tournament later this month.

On Thursday, Jasper defeated Hazel Green (23-25, 25-23, 16-14) and Cullman (25-20, 25-14).

Alex Oliver had 23 kills, eight digs, four assists and three blocks, McKinley Ferguson had 21 kills, seven digs, three blocks and an ace, Jordan Gilbert had seven kills and eight blocks, Kelsey Shelton had 10 digs, two blocks and two kills, Dayion Johnson had seven blocks and two kills, Temperance Chatman had 50 assists and 11 digs and Lexie Shephard had 10 digs.

The Lady Vikings play in the Athens Invitational on Saturday.
