Rock thrown at car from interstate overpass

The Walker County Sheriff's Office is investigating an incident in which a vehicle was damaged by a rock thrown from an interstate overpass on Monday night.

Sheriff Jim Underwood said the incident occurred on U.S. Interstate 22 around 10 p.m. The driver of the vehicle was traveling under the River Road overpass near Exit 78 when her vehicle was struck by a large rock.

Stacey Thompson posted on Facebook Monday night that her daughter was in the car with her at the time. Both were uninjured.

"This rock was large enough that if I had not seen it and swerved, it could have killed us," she wrote.

Thompson is offering a $1,000 reward for information that leads to an arrest.

In October, two juveniles were charged for throwing eggs at cars from an I-22 overpass on Whitehouse Road.
