Sam Junior Hood, 86, of Oakman, passed away on Saturday, Dec. 30, 2017, at his residence.
Visitation was held Monday, Jan. 1, 2018, from 5 to 8 p.m. in the Collins-Burke Funeral Home Parlor. Funeral services will be held today, Jan. 2, 2018, at 11 a.m. in the Collins-Burke Funeral Home Chapel, with burial following in Day Cemetery in Oakman. David Hood and Danny Adams will officiate.
Hood was preceded in death by his father, Ark Major Hood; mother, Cordelia Dunn Hood; son, Sammy E. Hood; sisters, Gertrude Woods, Pauline Swindle, Pearlie Kirkpatrick, Betsy Keene and Maggie Miller; and brother, Jamie Hood.
He is surived by his wife, Willie Gay Beck Hood; son, David Hood (Kim); daughter, Cynthia Adams (Danny); grandchildren, Jason Hood (late Melissa), Heath Hood (Jamie), Wesley Hood, Jennifer Adams, Daniel Adams, David S. Hood (Marissa), Heather Earnest (Clint), Matthew Adams and Jamie Creel; and great-grandchildren, Samantha Hood, Lil’ Jason Hood, Ethan Hood, Sarah Hood, Chase Hood, Ryan Hood, Kinsley Hood, Riley Creel, McKynlee Earnest and Kipton Hood (arriving January 2018).
Hood served as Deacon of Oakman Central Baptist Church for 52 years. He founded Hood Sales and Service pressure washer and repair company in 1971. Sam was married to his high school sweetheart for 68 years.
