The Walker County Sheriff’s Office is searching for a person of interest after a shooting in Quinton over the weekend left one man dead.

Anthony Foster, 36, died Wednesday night at UAB Hospital, according to Sgt. Anthony Leach.

Patrol deputies, responding to a call received at 2:04 p.m. Sunday, found Foster behind the wheel of his truck suffering from gunshot wounds.

“He was still breathing but was not conscious,” Leach said.

The vehicle had struck a power pole at the intersection of Smoot Street and Church Street, and Foster was bleeding from the head, according to Leach.

The shooting is believed to have occurred on Bobby Taylor Street, Leach said.

Foster was transported to UAB Hospital, where he was placed on life support before dying Wednesday at 9:51 p.m.

Leach said an arrest warrant for murder is being obtained for Tavaris Johnson.

Johnson is not believed to be in Walker County at this time.

Anyone with information about Johnson’s whereabouts is asked to call the Walker County Sheriff’s Office at 302-6464.
