State Track Meet: Addison boys, girls finish sixth

Addison's Emee Baldwin and Abbie Chambless each earned first-place finishes at the State Track and Field Meet held Friday and Saturday at the Cullman High School Stadium.

As a team, both Addison's boys and girls finished in sixth place in the Class 1A standings.

For the Lady Bulldogs, Baldwin took first place in the pole vault with a total of 9 feet, 6 inches, a full foot ahead of the second-place competitor. Baldwin also took seventh in the 100-meter hurdles.

Chambless placed first in the high jump with a total of 5 feet. She also took sixth in the triple jump.

Both Baldwin and Chambless were part of Addison's second-place 4x100m relay team, which also included Destiny Walker and Allie Chambless.

Also for Addison, Amanda Erb was fourth in the shot put, Brianna Chandler was seventh in the discus and Sunny Snoddy was seventh in the javelin.

Meek's Lacey Stewart was fourth in the pole vault.

Whitesburg won the Class 1A girls title with 139 points, Westminster-Oak Mountain was second with 106 points, followed by Loachapoka (59), Linden (53), Holy Spirit (48) and Addison (44).

On the boys side, Meek's John Mark Abercrombie picked up 31 points on his own, winning the javelin, taking second in the high jump and shot put and placing fourth in the discus.

For Addison, Noah Rice won the high jump, Zeb Maze won the shot put and placed second in the discus and Micah James took sixth in the shot put.

Westminster-Oak Mountain won the 1A boys title with 110 points, followed by Marion County (103), Isabella (77), Linden (47) and Whitesburg (37). Addison, Meek and Notasulga tied for sixth with 31 points.

Harrell paces Walker girls

Walker's Maddie Harrell earned a first-place finish and placed in three events at the Class 6A State Track and Field Meet in Gulf Shores.

Harrell won the 100-meter hurdles, took third in the 300m hurdles and was sixth in the 100m run.

Jodi Ann Martin placed fifth in both the 1600m and 3200m and the Walker 4x800m relay team placed eighth.

As a team, the Lady Vikings earned 28 points, finishing ninth in Class 6A.

Thomas Mobley paced the Walker boys, taking second in the 800m and seventh in the 1600m. Isiah Cox was fourth in the triple jump and seventh in the high jump. Walker's boys earned 17 points, placing 17th.
