GUIN — Sumiton Christian running back Tanner Talley capped a 256-yard, six-touchdown rushing performance with a game-winning two-point conversion run in the second overtime as the Eagles won a 56-55 shootout over the Marion County Red Raiders Friday night in Guin.

The teams combined for 37 first downs and 945 yards of offense.

Marion County led 35-21 at half thanks to the passing of quarterbacks Tanner Owens and Branden Pyron, who combined for 196 first-half yards. Eagles quarterback Chase Crane finished the half with 124 passing yards and two touchdown passes to Jeremy Brown.

Talley scored on three straight possessions to begin the second half with runs of six, 42 and 66 yards respectively. The Red Raiders only score came on a Tyler Thomas 24-yard run. Each team had their last extra point attempt in regulation blocked to send the game to overtime.

Sumiton Christian got on the board first in overtime on a Talley 10-yard run for a 48-41 lead. Marion County got a three-yard pass from Owens to Pyron on fourth down to force the second overtime with a 48-48 tie.

The Red Raiders (2-8) got the ball first in double overtime. Pyron again struck pay dirt on second down with a nine-yard run. Pyron added the PAT for a 55-48 edge. The winning score came on Talley's 10-yard scamper on first down. The Eagles opted for the two-point conversion try instead of the extra point. Talley ran the same exact play for the final points and a 56-55 victory.

With the win, Sumiton Christian (4-6) snapped a five-game losing streak.
