The Rustic Rose holds ribbon-cutting event

The Rustic Rose Flowers & Gifts held a ribbon-cutting last week, with community leaders coming to celebrate the business.

Jenny T. Busby, the designer and store owner, said it is located at 3604 Highway 78 E, next to the Texaco at the Walker Baptist Medical Center.

Busby, who has 25 years of experience in designing floral arrangements, said the 1,500-square-foot business was opened in April.

"We do every floral, fresh," she said, in addition to weddings, sympathy, birthdays, anniversaries, new babies, everyday decor and holiday decor. "We just don't want to be a traditional flower shop. We want to be family to everyone. ... We want to be there for every occasion and be able to make something beautiful for you.

A variety of balloons, much like was offered by Up, Up and Away, will also be sold and delivered, she said. Balloons can be added to a bouquet, snack basket, gift basket, stuffed animal or as a stand-alone bouquet of balloons.

Deliveries of flowers, balloons and other gifts are made throughout the Walker County area, she said.

Gift items can include quilt throws, stuffed animals, angels, metal crosses, grapevine crosses, wind chimes and door wreaths.

Busby noted that she started in a grocery store and worked her way up to flower shops.

"I have been taught by some of the best and added my own creative spin on my designs," she said on the store's website. "I have done several Junior League shows in the South with Christmas designs. I decorate over a dozen homes for Christmas" and plan arrangements for several weddings each year.

"God gave me a talent to make a living at but most of all he gave me the gift of loving what I do," she said. "I love making people happy. I believe flowers brighten a day for everyone."

The business is open Monday through Wednesday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., Thursday and Friday from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Saturday from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Extended hours possibly will be held some days during the holiday season, Busby said.
