DECATUR — Austin running back Asa Martin showed why he’s one of the top running back prospects in the state on Friday night — and the Jasper Vikings had a front row seat.

Martin opened the game with a 41-yard touchdown run and finished the night with three touchdowns in Austin’s 47-7 win.

Martin, who committed to Auburn earlier this week, made the score 7-0 at the 10:52 mark. He added a 14-yard score less than three minutes later for a 14-0 lead. No. 4 Austin built on its lead with a 65-yard touchdown strike with 5:55 left in the opening quarter.

Jasper got on the board late in the quarter with its only touchdown, a 20-yard run by Isadore Holiday to make the score 21-7. Austin wasn’t done in the first half. The Black Bears added a 2-yard run, a safety and a field goal for a 33-7 halftime lead. Austin added two long TD runs in the second half.

Jasper returns home next week to face Hueytown at Ki-Ro Gambrell Field.
