Walter John “Walt” Nesbit, 74, of Jasper, went home to be with the Lord on Monday, Sept. 18, 2017. He served as a longtime member and Deacon at Argo Freewill Baptist Church. He was formerly a firefighter in Wellsville, N.Y., and was an avid Alabama football fan.
The family will receive friends today, Sept. 20, 2017, from 12:30 until 2 p.m. in the chapel at New Horizon Memorial Funeral Home in Dora. Funeral services will be today, Sept. 20, 2017, at 2 p.m. in the New Horizon Memorial Chapel. Rev. Richard Handley will officiate. Burial will follow in New Horizon Memorial Gardens.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Mark and Midge Nesbit; sisters, Marlene Nesbit and Nancy Sutley; and brothers-in-law, Bob McAllister and Bob Ransom.
Survivors include his wife, Karen Kelley Nesbit; children, Felicia Jackson (Ken), Katrina Savitcheff (Steven), Marla Nesbit, Jeremy Wilson (Stephanie), Jodie Creel (Mike), Kelly Borden (Zac) and Kristy Godfrey; several grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; sisters, Frances McAllister, Paula Ransom and Patty Ransom (Eugene); brother-in-law, Mike Sutley; several nieces, nephews and other relatives; and many friends.
