The “What’s Going On” Section will be featured each Wednesday and Sunday in the Daily Mountain Eagle, and daily on the Community Calendar on the DME website at www.mountaineagle.com. Community and school events, and class and family reunions, are listed free of charge and run in chronological order by calendar date and time. The deadline to place a community or school event, class or family reunion is no later than noon each Tuesday and Friday. SERVSAFE Food Safety Certification Class will be held Thursday, Jan. 25, and Thursday, Feb. 1, from 10 a.m.3 p.m. at the Walker County Extension Office. Registration for this class is $125, which includes all materials and test for certification. The class is a mandated requirement by the Department of Public Health for those who work or would like to work in food service. This is a two day class, and you will need to attend both days. Townley Community Center will host a benefit gospel singing Saturday, Jan. 27, beginning at 5:30 p.m. with special solo artists; featured group, Faith on Fire, at 6 p.m.; and Eagles Wings will conclude the concert. Admission is free, but a love offering will be taken to help fund the second phase of renovations at TCC.
Jasper High School 2018 Sweetheart Pageant will be held Saturday, Jan. 27, at 7 p.m. in the Pamela H. Brown Theater at Jasper High School. Admission will be $8 at the door. Reserved seating is not available this year.

Nauvoo Volunteer Fire Department will host a Bean Supper Saturday, Feb. 10, from 47 p.m. at the Nauvoo Fire Station located at 8176 Nauvoo Road in Nauvoo. Proceeds from the supper will go to the Nauvoo VFD to help fund firefighting operations in their community.
