THURSDAY, AUG. 30

• Carbon Hill City Council will meet Thursday, Aug. 30, at 6:30 p.m. in the Council Chambers at the Carbon Hill Community Center.


SATURDAY, SEPT. 1


• Argo Volunteer Fire Department will host a breakfast on the first Saturday of each month from 7–9 a.m. at the Argo Fire Station on U.S. Highway 78 in Argo.


• Descendants of Jacob and Elizabeth Gaunt Lollar will have a reunion Saturday, Sept. 1, beginning at 10 a.m. at the Oakman Senior Center located at 8250 Market Street in downtown Oakman (1/2 block from Alabama Hwy. 69 South). A covered dish lunch will be served at noon. Bring family stories and photos to share.


• Abbott Reunion for the descendants of James Hial Abbott and Pilgrim Progress Abbott will be Saturday, Sept. 1, 2018, at Smith Lake Civic Center in Curry. The two reunions have been combined. Door will open at 10 a.m., with lunch served at 12 p.m. Please bring a covered dish, and any old photos you would like to share. Live music. MONDAY, SEPT. 3


• Carbon Hill Senior Center at 316 N.E. 16th St. in Carbon Hill is open to senior citizens each Monday - Friday, from 8 a.m. until 1 p.m. Lunch served at 11 a.m. Games and various other activities. Special guest evangelist and gospel singing each Tuesday and Thursday. All senior citizens are invited to come and fellowship with their fellow senior neighbors. • Forestry BMP, OSHA Regulation and Deer Chronic Wasting Disease Workshop to be held Wednesday, Sept. 12, in Jasper. Workshop topics will include, Deer Chronic Wasting Disease, Pine and Hardwood Genetics, BMP’s, OSHA Safety & PPE, Insect Borne Diseases and Forestry Ethics.
