The “What’s Going On” Section will be featured each Wednesday and Sunday on A7 of the Daily Mountain Eagle, and daily on the Community Calendar on the DME website at www.mountaineagle.com. Community events and class and family reunions are listed free of charge and run in chronological order by calendar date and time. Community events and class and family reunions are only accepted from local civic, government and nonprofit (501(c)(3)) organizations, and high school classes and families. Deadline to place a community event, class or family reunion will be noon each Tuesday and Friday. “Go Red for Women” Red Ball Gala “Empowering Women Heart Health” Valentine Ball will be held Friday, Feb. 12, at 6:30 p.m., at the CHS Activities Center at 204 19th Street East in Jasper. Walker County Amateur Radio Emergency Service will provide a free Ham Radio class for the technician license. The class will be held on four consecutive Saturday mornings beginning Saturday, March 12, from 9:30 a.m. until 1 p.m. All other classes will be held each Saturday from 8 a.m. until noon. Test will be given at end of final class on Saturday, April 9. You need to register by no later than Friday, March 4, for WCARES to order you a study guide. Study guide is $18 with no shipping charges when preordered, or you can order the Technician Q&A from online resources. You will need the study guide prior to the first class.
