The “What’s Going On” Section will be featured each Wednesday and Sunday in the A section of the Daily Mountain Eagle, and daily on the Community Calendar on the DME website at www.mountaineagle. com. Community events and class and family reunions are listed free of charge and run in chronological order by calendar date and time. Community events and class and family reunions are only accepted from local civic, government and nonprofit (501(c)(3)) organizations, and high school classes and families. The deadline to place a community event, class or family reunion is no later than noon on Tuesday or Friday of each week. Sasha’s Hope Animal Rescue and the Alabama Spay Neuter Clinic in Irondale is offering lost cost Spay and Neuter program for dogs and cats in Walker and surrounding counties. Walker County Health Department will have a flu clinic today, Oct. 5 and Monday, Oct. 17, from 8 a.m. until 10 a.m., and from 1 p.m. until 3 p.m. They will bill Medicaid and Medicare Part B, Blue Advantage and All Kids if you bring your card, or you may pay $5.

RSVP of Walker County will host a Health Watch on Medicare Open Enrollment on today, Oct 5, from 9 until 11 a.m., at the Jasper Civic Center at 204 19th Street East in Jasper. Walker County Education Retirees will meet Thursday, Oct. 6, at 10 a.m. at the Jasper Civic Center. Free flu shots and wellness screenings will be given with PEEHIP or Southland insurance card.

Second Annual “Find A Potion for Parkinson” 10K/5K and 1-mile Fun Run will be held on Saturday, Oct. 29 at Gamble Park. Proceeds from the event will be sent to Parkinson's Association of Alabama to help promote awareness and research of this disease. A silly costume contest for kids and adults will be held at 8 a.m. to be followed by the fun run at 8:30 a.m. and the 10K/5K at 9 a.m. The deadline to turn in your registration forms and money to be guaranteed a T-shirt will be Friday, Oct. 7.
