The “What’s Going On” Section will be featured each Wednesday and Sunday in the A section of the Daily Mountain Eagle, and daily on the Community Calendar on the DME website at www.mountaineagle. com. Community events and class and family reunions are listed free of charge and run in chronological order by calendar date and time. Community events and class and family reunions are only accepted from local civic, government and nonprofit (501(c)(3)) organizations, and high school classes and families. The deadline to place a community event, class or family reunion is no later than noon on Tuesday or Friday of each week. MONDAY, DEC. 5

Walker County Community Action Agency’s Senior Adult Energy Assistance Outreach will be at the following locations this week on the specific dates and times listed: Parrish High School Gym - Monday, Dec. 5, at 9:30 a.m.; Jasper Housing Authority Gym - Tuesday, Dec. 6, at 9 a.m.; Carbon Hill Community Center - Wednesday, Dec. 7, at 9:30 a.m.; Sumiton Senior Center - Thursday, Dec. 8, at 9:30 a.m.; and Sipsey Community Center - Friday, Dec. 9, at 9:30 a.m. Senior Adult Outreach is for adults and over only. Please provide the following items for all household members: proof of income, Social Security cards, current photo I.D, and current energy bill. Bank statements cannot be used for proof of income.

Kiwanis Club of Jasper will meet each Monday at noon in the cafeteria on the Bevill State Community College - Walker College in Jasper.

Walker County Cattlewomen Association will meet on Monday, Dec. 5, at 7 p.m. at the Farmer’s Federation building in Jasper.

Breast Cancer Support Group of Walker County will not meet the second Thursday in December at 1:30 p.m. in the Community Room at the Carl Elliott Regional Library on 18th Street in Jasper, but will resume their regular meeting schedule in January.

Jasper Civil Service Board will hold a public hearing on Wednesday, Dec. 7, 2016, immediately following the regular meeting which begins at 9 a.m. in the council chambers at Jasper City Hall. This hearing concerns the number of days an employee is suspended before the employee has a right to a hearing.

FRIDAY, DEC. 9

Town of Oakman Annual Christmas Parade will be held Friday, Dec. 9, at 6:30 p.m. Lineup will begin at 6 p.m. in the Oakman Elementary School parking lot. Dilworth Community Center on Stella Lockard Road will host its monthly breakfast the second Saturday of each month at 7:30 a.m. at the center.

Walker County ARES Ham Radio Club will meet the second Saturday of each month at 8 a.m. at the American Red Cross office on Viking Drive in Jasper. Testing will be held following the meeting.

Town of Sipsey Christmas Parade will be held Saturday, Dec. 17, at 10 a.m. Line-up will begin at 9 a.m. at the Old Sipsey Junior High School. Lunch will be served following the parade at the Sipsey Community Center.

Kids Loving Kids Gift Distribution for Walker County will be held Saturday, Dec. 17, at the Living Light Church of God on North Airport Road in Jasper. Teen volunteers need to arrive at 9 a.m. Families who have signed up for the program need to arrive at noon. Kids Loving Kids is still in need of the following items fruit, underwear, socks, shoes, blankets, shirts and coats. Living Light Church of God is accepting slightly USED or NEW items for ages - baby to teen sizes.

Annual Townley Christmas Parade will be held Saturday, Dec. 17, at 1 p.m. at the Townley Community Center. Refreshments will be served and you can have your picture made with Santa.
