The “What’s Going On” Section will be featured each Wednesday and Sunday in the A section of the Daily Mountain Eagle, and daily on the Community Calendar on the DME website at www.mountaineagle. com. Community events and class and family reunions are listed free of charge and run in chronological order by calendar date and time. Community events and class and family reunions are only accepted from local civic, government and nonprofit (501(c)(3)) organizations, and high school classes and families. The deadline to place a community event, class or family reunion is no later than noon on Tuesday or Friday of each week. MONDAY, DEC. 19

Walker County Community Action Agency’s Senior Adult Energy Assistance Outreach will be at the Dora Community Center on Monday, Dec. 19, at 9:30 a.m. Senior Adult Outreach is for adults and over only. Please provide the following items for all household members: proof of income, Social Security cards, current photo I.D. and current energy bill. Bank statements cannot be used for proof of income.

Tuesday, Dec. 20

Civitan Club of Jasper is having its annual Claxton Fruitcake Sale. The cost is $5 for 1 pound or $10 for 2 pounds. Deadline to order will be Tuesday, Dec. 20. Christmas In The Park at Guthrie Smith Park in Fayette will be open to the public seven days a week through Saturday, Dec. 31, from 5:30 until 9:30 p.m. each night. Admission is $1 per car. Train rides through the park are available Thursday through Saturday for $1 per person.

MONDAY, JAN. 2

Kiwanis Club of Jasper will meet each Monday at noon in the Francis Israel Cafeteria on the Bevill State Community College - Walker College in Jasper.

Free Community Yoga Class will be held each Monday at 7 p.m. at the Sumiton Community Center on Byran Road in Sumiton. Restorative therapeutic class is open to people of all ages and skill levels. For more information, contact the class instructor, Jilda Watson, at jildawatson@gmail.com.

Jasper AFG (Alanon Family Group), a support group for those with loved ones with a drinking problem, will meet each Monday, at 8 p.m., at 216 Gardner Road in Jasper.

Capstone Rural Health will host a resource event the first Friday of each month from 9 a.m. until noon at the Carl Elliott Library in Jasper and offer enrollment assistance with Medicaid and the Affordable Care Insurance. Representatives will be available to answer any questions or help you file a Hardship Exemption to avoid paying a penalty for not having insurance. Some exemptions include bankruptcy, domestic violence, loss of a close family member and more. Will also help with SNAP (Food Stamp) applications. Safelink (free cell phones) will be available to assist with applications/trouble shoot any problems you have had with Safelink. Middle Alabama Area Agency on Aging (M4A) will also be on hand to assist with applications and inform the public of resources offered in Walker County. Argo Volunteer Fire Department will host a breakfast the first Saturday of each month from 7 until 9 a.m. at the Argo Fire Station located off U.S. Highway 78 in the Argo community in Walker County.
