The “What’s Going On” Section will be featured each Wednesday and Sunday in the A section of the Daily Mountain Eagle, and daily on the Community Calendar on the DME website at www.mountaineagle. com. Community and school events, and class and family reunions, are listed free of charge and run in chronological order by calendar date and time. Community and school events, and class and family reunions are only accepted from local civic, government, nonprofit (501(c)(3)) organizations, schools, high school classes, and families. The deadline to place a community or school event, class or family reunion is no later than noon on Tuesday or Friday of each week. Argo Volunteer Fire Department iscurrently accepting its yearly fire dues, which is $50 for residents and $75 for businesses. Dues may be mailed to Argo Volunteer Fire, 6558 U.S. Highway 78, Cordova, AL 35550 or dropped off at the Fire Station on Tuesday through Thursday from 11 a.m. until 8 p.m.

Arley Women’s Club will host its Chili Fest 2017 Fundraiser on Sunday, Jan. 22, at 236 Helicon Rd. (across from Hamner Park) from 11 a.m. until 3 p.m. Dine-in or take out. Tickets will be $6 Adults, $3 kids under 12. The “Golden Ladle” will be awarded for the best chili of the day at 3 p.m. Drawing for the “Weaver Fever” quilt, a queen-size quilt created by two members for the fundraiser, will be held at that time. The quilt will be on display at the event, and tickets for the drawing are $1.

Walker County Community Action Agency Inc. will host two community meetings to fill vacant positions for low-income representatives to serve on the WCCAA Board of Directors. A meeting will be held Thursday, Jan. 26, at 1 p.m. at Capstone Rural Health Clinic at 153 3rd Avenue in Nauvoo for a representative in the Nauvoo area, and Thursday, Jan. 31, at 1 p.m. at the Walker County Community Action Agency office at 644 19th Street West in Jasper for a representative in the Jasper area.
