Woman charged with hindering missing person investigation

A Cordova woman has been charged with first-degree felony hindering prosecution after giving false information in a missing person case.

Tara Denise Williams Freeman, 31, was arrested after information she provided to Walker County Sheriff’s Office Cold Case Investigator Mike Cole about the disappearance of Jeremy Lee Thompson proved to be false.  

Thompson, 41, of the Argo Hill Community, was last seen on June 7, 2019, at the trailer park behind Scott’s Texaco on Argo Hill.  

Freeman is a person of interest in the case. Foul play is suspected.

Thompson is 5’ 8” and weighs approximately 170 lbs. with short dark brown hair.  

Drug arrests made in Sipsey, Saragossa

Several arrests were made Wednesday evening after the Walker County Sheriff’s SWAT, Narcotics and K-9 Divisions, along with the Department of Corrections K-9 Tracking Unit, executed two drug search warrants. 

First, a search warrant was executed on Saragossa Road with two arrests. Investigators seized Xanax, Suboxone and drug paraphernalia.

Brandy Lynn Russell, 44, of Oakman, was arrested and charged with two counts of unlawful possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia. Russell also had warrants for her arrest for second-degree robbery, second-degree assault, second-degree theft of property, failure to appear on probation revocation and unlawful possession of a controlled substance.  

Joshua Ray Boteler, 30, of Saragossa was arrested and charged with possession of drug paraphernalia.  

A second search warrant was executed on River Ridge Trace in the Sipsey community.  

Investigators seized Xanax, marijuana, counterfeit U.S. currency, drug paraphernalia, firearms and $1,500 in U.S. currency.  

Christopher Jeremy Dodd, 46, of Nauvoo, was arrested and charged with unlawful possession of a controlled substance, second-degree possession of a forged instrument and possession of drug paraphernalia. 

Dodd also had a warrant for his arrest for failure to appear on third-degree theft of property.  

Glenda Gail Darty, 58, of Sipsey, was arrested and charged with two counts of distribution of a controlled substance, unlawful possession of a controlled substance, second-degree possession of a forged instrument and possession of drug paraphernalia. 

Darty also had warrants for six counts of failure to appear on probation revocation.  

Labriska Danielle Parrish McDonald, 44, of Jasper, was arrested and charged with unlawful possession of a controlled substance, second-degree possession of a forged instrument and possession of drug paraphernalia. 

Donald Ricky Smith, 62, of Sipsey, was arrested and charged with possession of drug paraphernalia. Smith also had warrants for failure to appear on illegal possession of prescription medication, possession of drug paraphernalia, two counts of driving while revoked and two counts of driving under the influence.
