Visitation will be held from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. Saturday at Mayes Ward-Dobbins Funeral Home.
Mr. Harris was a WWII and Korean War veteran, serving in the Coast Guard and U.S. Navy aboard the USS Missouri. He served as a bailiff since 1993 and was a district manager for Volkswagen of America for 22 years. He was a member and a Deacon of Eastside Baptist Church in Marietta. He was a devoted husband, father and grandfather and a devout Christian.
He was preceded in death by his parents, William Raymond and Georgia Harris; one brother, Bobby Harris; and one sister, Jewel Bruce.
He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Doris East Harris, of Marietta; three sons and daughters-in-law, Neil and Michele Harris of Vancleave, Miss., and Randy and Kim Harris and Gary and Julia Harris, all of Marietta; two brothers, Willie Ray Harris of Clanton and Gene Harris and his wife Glenda of Jasper; one sister, Mary Lois Blackwell and her husband Jim of Parrish; nine grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
