The Bulldogs improved to 5-0 on the season behind a balanced offensive attack. Tyler Owens and Conner Young each had 11 points while Kolton Nichols put in 10 and Gerald Smith added nine for the Bulldogs.
Carbon Hill led 21-10 after the first quarter and pushed its lead to 30-16 at the half. Fayette County, playing in its first game of the season, trailed 46-27 after three quarters.
“We caught them at a good time,” Carbon Hill coach Robert Epps said.
Carbon Hill hadn’t played in a week before Tuesday’s game. “It took us a little bit to get back in the groove. I thought we played well on defense,” he added.
David Mote added seven points for Carbon Hill while Landon Herron had six and Jacob Hudson put in five.
Carbon Hill travels to Oakman on Thursday.
The Carbon Hill JV team moved to 5-0 with a 54-40 victory.
Varsity Girls
Carbon Hill 50, Fayette County 27
Caroline Dodd had 26 points to lead Carbon Hill past the Lady Tigers on Tuesday.
Carbon Hill (5-0) led 26-18 at the half and took a 37-20 lead into the fourth quarter.
Brittney Harding had four points for the Lady Bulldogs while both Emily Posten and Ashley Tubbs added three.
With the win, Carbon Hill eclipsed last year’s win total of four.
Varsity Boys
Meek 47, Winston County 40
Meek improved to 4-0 on the season with a road win over Winston County, 47-40, at Double Springs on Tuesday.
The Tigers jumped out to an 18-point halftime lead at 35-17 and held on for the victory. Dylan Cleghorn led the way for Meek with 21 points and nine rebounds, Jackson Murphy had 12 points and six rebounds, Kyle Stephenson added six points and seven rebounds and Luke Alden had three points.
For Winston County, Tyler Marks had eight points while Cole Hayes put in five. Meek hosts Marion County in a key area game Thursday with the varsity girls starting at 6 p.m.
Varsity Boys
Corner 48, Dora 37
Dora fell to 1-5 on the season and 0-1 in area play after a 48-37 home loss to Corner on Tuesday night.
Corner jumped out to a 20-9 lead after the first quarter. Dora cut the gap to 37-31 after three quarters, but got no closer. For the Bulldogs, Brent Youngblood had 11 points to lead the way.
Dora will host Fayette County on Thursday.
