Larry Cantrell, a captain with the Jasper Police Department, said the incident turned out to be a domestic issue.
"We were afraid that it was a kidnapping," he said. "We had police investigating the situation to find the missing child. Thankfully it turned out to be something completely different."
Cantrell said an 8-year-old child was reported missing Wednesday evening. Cantrell said the child was eventually found safe at a relative's house.
"We're just glad the child was found safe," he said.
