Randy Sanford, an investigator with the Walker County Sheriff’s Office, said an armed suspect entered the store early Thursday morning and demanded money. After taking an unknown amount of money from the cash register, the suspect fled the scene.
Only one suspect entered the store, Sanford said.
“There may have been more involved, but only one person entered the building,” he said.
This marks the fourth convenience store robbery in Walker County in the past two weeks. The Boldo Crown convenience store, located at the corner of Boldo Road and Highway 69 North, was the target of an armed robbery on Jan. 3. The Oakman Texaco on Highway 69 was robbed Jan. 7. The Walker County Sheriff’s Office is investigating each of those robberies. The Jasper Police Department is also investigating a convenience store robbery in Jasper earlier this week.
“This incident is very similar to the other two that we are investigating,” Sanford said. “We’re not for sure if they are connected, but that is a possibility.”
Anyone with information about any of the recent robberies is urged to contact the Sheriff’s Office at 205-302-6464.
