After being contacted by Georgia police, third shift patrol officers with the Jasper Police Department worked throughout the early morning hours of Sunday to find a man wanted for kidnapping and his 13-year-old victim.

The suspect is a Hispanic male, whose name is being withheld due to him possibly being a minor. In Georgia, he is listed as an adult, but in Alabama he is listed as a juvenile, a report from the Jasper Police Department stated. The 13-year-old Hispanic female he had reportedly kidnapped was also located. Police said the female willingly accompanied the male. Both are being held in the local juvenile facility. The female will be released to her mother. The suspect, who is being held on a second degree kidnapping warrant from Georgia, will be released to the Columbus (Ga.) Police Department.

A Columbus police detective contacted JPD around 1 a.m. Sunday to inform officers that a man they were searching for was believed to be in the Jasper area. The written report from the Jasper Police Department said Columbus police felt strongly the couple was in Jasper after tracking the victim's cell phone activity.

Jasper officers found the suspect and the victim at a home on North Delaware Avenue around 4 a.m. Sunday. Police said the suspect came to Jasper because he had family in the area.
