Tommy Karl O’Rear, 57, of the Rosehill community, passed away on Monday, Jan. 24, 2011, at Walker Baptist Medical Center. Visitation will be today, Jan. 26, 2011, from 6 to 9 p.m. at Collins-Burke Funeral Home in Jasper. Funeral services will be Thursday, Jan. 27, 2011 at 1 p.m. in the Collins-Burke Chapel with burial at New Hope Holy Church of Christ. Rick Sherer will officiate. Music to be performed by Martha Hutto.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Wonda Lathum O’Rear; parents, John and Artie Lane O’Rear; and his grandparents; brothers, John W. O’Rear Jr., Walter L. “Cotton” O’Rear, Marion “Slick” O’Rear and Clyde O’Rear; and sisters, Gayle O’Rear and Joyce Ashworth.

He is survived by his daughters, Misty (Doug) Kennedy of Jasper and Mindy (Ron) Hill of Birmingham; son, Micky (Kelly) O’Rear of Jasper; grandchildren, Karla Kennedy, Savannah Hill, Maddy O’Rear and Marcus Hill; brothers, Charles (Kim) O’Rear of Jasper and Newton (Kathy) O’Rear of Jasper; sisters, Esther Akins of Jasper, Helen (Larry) Bragg of Jasper, Martha Hutto of Jasper, and Clara (Charles) Wynn of Lynette; sister-in-laws, Libby O’Rear of Ferndale, Mich., Alene O’Rear of Jasper and Judy O’Rear of Jasper; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Pallbearers will be John Keith Akins, Donnie Ashworth, Quentin Bishop, Mark Hutto, Charles O’Rear Jr., Dusty O’Rear, Jamie O’Rear, John Victor O’Rear, Lee O’Rear, Nick O’Rear, Ronnie O’Rear, Shane O’Rear and Elliott Toler.
