Annual scholarship pageant set for Saturday

The Miss Walker County Pageant will be held at 7 p.m. on Saturday in Rowland Hall on the Jasper campus of Bevill State Community College. Six local girls will be competing. The current Miss Walker County, Hayley Jones, will crown the winner. Miss Alabama Ashley Davis will emcee Saturday night’s program.

This year’s contestants are:

Maegen Moore

Moore is a graduate of Cordova High School and is currently a senior at the University of West Alabama. Her platform issue is Fine Arts for Autism Awareness. Her talent will be a lyrical dance called “My Endless Love.”

Brittany Poe

Poe is a graduate of Dora High School and a student at Bevill State Community College. Her platform issue is C.L.A.Y. Her talent will be a classical vocal titled “ Italian Street Song.”

Kourtney Williams

Williams is a graduate of Corner High School and is a sophomore at the University of Montevallo. Her platform issue is Make-A-Wish Foundation. Her talent will be a vocal piece called “Via Dolorosa.”

Emily Woods

Woods is a graduate of Haleyville High School and is a sophomore at Bevill State Community College. Her platform issue is youth empowerment and positive influence. Her talent will be a dance to “Everything Must Change.”

Margaret Able

Able is a graduate of Walker High School and is a junior at the University of Alabama. Her platform issue is juvenile arthritis. Her talent will be a jazz dance to “You Make My Dreams Come True.”

Kayla Higgins

Higgins is from Dora and is a student at Birmingham Southern College. Her platform issue is Relay for Life. Her talent will be an opera vocal called “Caro Nome.”
