The dates of the weekend will be announced at a future meeting, but have been traditionally held in August so parents of school-aged children can take advantage of the tax-free break while buying clothes and supplies prior to the resumption of classes.
In other actions from the meeting:
*A motion to repay $2,448.56 to the Parrish Water Works and Sewer Board for a loan secured on the city's behalf in regard to the Parrish-Jasper Road sidewalks passed unanimously.
*The Council voted unanimously to enter into agreement with the Kelly Group for the placement of bids for the construction of the Parrish Municipal Park.
*The police department, fire department and street department reports were presented.
*A motion to pay the city's utility bills passed unanimously.
*The Council discussed the hiring of temporary concession stand workers for the upcoming baseball season. Council members will submit recommendations to Mayor Wayne Gross who is expected to make a decision next week.
