Mavis Bush Gurganus, 88, of Oakman, passed away on Wednesday, March 16, 2011. The family will receive friends on Sunday, March 20, 2011 from 1 to 3 p.m. at Collins-Burke Funeral Home. Funeral services will be Sunday, March 20, 2011 at 3 p.m. in the Collins-Burke Chapel. Burial will follow at Walker Memory Gardens. Bro. Levi Sides will officiate, Collins-Burke Funeral Home will direct.

Gurganus was preceded in death by her husband, Dessler Gurganus; parents, William Jackie and Martha Bush; brothers, Henley Bush, Newburn Bush and Marshall Bush; sisters, Clevia Canida, Stachie Gurganus and Esther Lightfoot.

She is survived by her daughter, Judy G. Jones (Phillip) of Jasper; sisters, Itra Brasfield of McCalla and Mildred Gilbert (Clinton) of Adger; grandchildren, Michelle Jones of Okinawa, Japan and Mitchell Jones (Samantha) of Parrish; great-grandchildren, Adam, Austin and Autumn Hyche, and Payton and Lane Jones.

Pallbearers will be Clinton Gilbert, Terry Gilbert, Adam Hyche, Austin Hyche, Mitchell Jones and Jim Lightfoot.
