Dr. Stephen Songmoo Kim, 68, of Birmingham, joined his beloved mother, YuSook Choi, and his father, SooJin Kim, in Heaven on Wednesday, March 23, 2011. He was born in Taegu, South Korea on January 1, 1943 and immigrated to finish his medical training at UAB. He enjoyed playing the violin, ping pong, perfecting his swing on the golf course and collecting cars. He served as President of the Greater Birmingham Korean Association. After 30 years of practice serving the people in Sumiton, he retired to Mountain Brook to pursue his hobbies and spend time with his loved ones.

He is survived by his wife of 26 years, Donna Hamm Kim; children, Dr. Melissa Kim Meinke, Stefan Kim esq. (Amanda), Dr. Chris Kim (Tamara), Dr. John Kim, Dr. David Kim (Wendy), Dr. William Kim and Emily Kim; grandchildren, Rachel and Kristen Meinke, Nicholas, Alex, Victoria, Coleman, Carson, Ellen, Grayson and Olivia Kim; and soon to be another granddaughter.

He is deeply missed and immeasurably loved. Mass services was held in Korean Friday, March 25, at Prince of Peace Catholic Church in Hoover. Fr. Peter Yeun officiating. Funeral services were held Saturday, March 26, 2011, at Crestview Memorial Funeral Home at noon, visitation was from 11 a.m. to noon. Bro. Mark Harrison officiated. Burial followed in Crestview Memorial Gardens.
