Dolly Elizabeth Rose, 86, of Jasper, went to be with the Lord on Thursday April 14, 2011, at Ridgewood Healthcare Center. Funeral services will be at 3 p.m. today, April 16, 2011, at Kilgore-Green Chapel. Burial will follow at Carbon Hill Memorial Gardens. Ed Goforth will officiate. Visitation will be from 2 to 3 p.m. today at Kilgore-Green Chapel. She was a member of Carbon Hill Class of 1945. She was a leader in her community and a member of Mt. Vernon Baptist Church, founding member of Slashy Branch Homemaker Association, Smith Lake Civic Association, Tired & Retired Travel Group and Walker Baptist Women’s Auxillary.

She was preceded in death by her parents, James and Mattie Thornbro; and siblings, Jim Thornbro, Bob Thornbro, Clarence Thornbro and Mildred Moon.

She is survived by her beloved and devoted husband, Cecil Joe Rose of Jasper; children, Joe Neal Rose (Cheri) of Maylene, Montez Wakefield (Lavon) of Jasper, Bruce Rose (Cynthia) of Jasper, Barbara Hall (Rogers Bagley) of Arley, Ann Collett (Danny) of Ashville and Pam Rose of Jasper; grandchildren, Kent Hall (Gloria), Kay Parker (Jerry), Connie Green (Jason), Tiffany Johnson (Chris), Billy Rose, Joe Neal Rose and LaDonn Wakefield; great-grandchildren, Kirk, Blake, Savannah, Landon, Colton, Logan, Madison and Justin; siblings, Charles Thornbro, Mary Alexander, Evelyn Best and Peggy Serenius; and a host of family and friends.
