Cadi Oliver had a big game for the Lady Eagles, going 3-for-4 with a stolen base, a double and two RBIs, Kathryn Warren was 3-for-3 with two doubles, two runs and three RBIs, Kirsten Click was 2-for-4 with two RBIs and Kendall Hamm was 2-for-4.
The Lady Eagles won the Pelham Tournament over the weekend, beating Bibb County, Thompson and Hueytown.
Sumiton Christian hosts Hueytown, the No. 1 team in Class 5A, at 4 p.m. today.
No. 10 Carbon Hill 5, Oakman 4
Carbon Hill held off Oakman for a narrow 5-4 win at Carbon Hill High School on Monday.
The Lady Bulldogs, ranked No. 10 in Class 3A, scored two runs in the bottom of the fourth inning to take a 5-4 lead. From there, pitcher Ansley Madison held Oakman in check for the win.
Madison went seven innings, allowing seven hits, two walks and four runs — three earned — while striking out three.
Tessa Ivey led a balanced Carbon Hill attack at the plate, going 2-for-3 with a double, a run and an RBI, Caroline Dodd was 2-for-4 with two runs, Kelsy Alexander was 1-for-3 with a double and two RBIs, Meagan Bice was 1-for-3 with an RBI, Nikki Alexander was 1-for-4 with a stolen base and a run and Emily Posten scored a run and added an RBI.
For Oakman, Molly Lockhart was 2-for-4 with a home run, Carmen Hadder was 2-for-3, Sara Mason was 1-for-3 and Genie Chappell was 1-for-4.
Carbon Hill (25-13) hosts Hamilton at 5 p.m. Thursday in an area contest.
No. 5 Parrish 10, Pickens County 0, five innings
Parrish’s Grayson Culverson tossed a one-hitter to lead the fifth-ranked Lady Tornadoes to a 10-0 home area win over Pickens County on Monday.
Culverson struck out seven and improved to 19-6 on the season.
Jamie Beth Hocutt was 3-for-4 with a home run for Parrish, Taylor Winchester was 3-for-3, Sha Sha Hubbard was 3-for-4 and Demi Crowe finished 2-for-3.
Parrish (31-7) finished 1-2 at the Pelham Tournament over the weekend, losing to Shelby County and Pleasant Grove while beating Chilton County.
