Mattie Burgett Schoen, 89, of Adamsville, passed away on Friday, May 20, 2011, at St. Vincent’s Hospital in Birmingham. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until noon on Monday, May 23, 2011, at Collins-Burke Funeral Home Parlor. A graveside funeral service will be held at 12:30 p.m. on Monday, May 23, 2011, at Walker Memory Gardens. Bro. Hollis Alexander will officiate.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Owen C. Slater.

She is survived by her son, Billy Wayne Wright of Adamsville; sister, Janice S. of Fla.; brother, Elton Burgett of Jasper; granddaughters, Shannon Bennett of Adger and Tonya Collier of Brookside; grandson, Darrell Wayne Wright of Adamsville; five great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces and nephews.
