Dempsey Bennett, 80, of Jasper, passed away on Thursday, July 28, 2011, at his residence. Funeral services will be at 4 p.m. today, July 30, 2011, at Herman Baptist Church. Burial will follow at Herman Baptist Cemetery. Harland Harris and Thomas Curtis will officiate. Visitation will be from 2 to 4 p.m. today prior to services.

He was preceded in death by his first wife, Dorothy King Bennett; father, Emery Bennett; and mother, Mae Bennett.

He is survived by his wife, Ruth Bennett; daughters, Janet Mertchant, Phyllis Bennett, Cherry Padbury and Teresa Miceli; sons, Mark Bell and Mike Bell; sisters, Dale Davis, Betty Robinson and Shirley Wilson; brother, Albert Lee Bennett; 13 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Brian Wilson, Chase Merchant, Billy Bennett, Chad Smith, Billy Wade Bennett and Cody Padbury.
