Esther A. O’Rear Akins, 74, of Jasper, passed away on Sunday, Aug. 7, 2011, at her residence in Pinson. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, Aug. 10, 2011, at Collins-Burke Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow at Samaria Baptist Cemetery in Jasper. Ricky Sherer will officiate. Visitation will be from 10 to 11 a.m on Wednesday at Collins-Burke Funeral Home Chapel prior to services.

She was preceded in death by her brothers, Jake O’Rear, Walter L. O’Rear, John William O’Rear Jr., Marion O’Rear, Clyde O’Rear and Tommy O’Rear; and sisters, Joyce Ashworth and Lona Gayle O’Rear.

She is survived by her son, John Keith Akins (Michelle) of Pinson; sisters, Clara Wynn (Charles) of Lynette, Helen Bragg (Larry) of Jasper and Martha Hutto of Jasper; sisters-in-law, Alene O’Rear, Elizabeth O’Rear and Judy O’Rear; brothers, Charles O’Rear (Kum) of Jasper and Newton O’Rear (Kathy) of Oakman; grandchildren, John David Akins (Carly) and Jarrett Akins; and great-grandchild, Layla Akins; and a host of nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers will be James O’Rear, Charles O’Rear Jr., Mark Hutto, Nick O’Rear, Shane O’Rear, Dustin O’Rear, Micky O’Rear, John David Akins, Jarrett Akins, Ronnie O’Rear and Quentin Bishop.
