Lone Barnett Jr., 89, of Cordova, passed away on Wednesday, Sept. 14, 2011, at Princeton Baptist Medical Center. Funeral service will be today, Sept. 17, 2011, at Collins-Burke Funeral Home Chapel at 2 p.m. Visitation will be from noon until 2 p.m. at the funeral home prior to service. Burial will follow at Mt. Pisgah Baptist Cemetery. Bro. Donnie Hyche will officiate. Collins-Burke Funeral Home will direct.

He served as Staff Sergeant in the U.S. Army during World War II. He served as deacon at Mt. Pisgah Missionary Baptist Church in Cordova for 44 years. He retired from Drummond Coal Company in 1984.

He was preceded in death by his son, Richard Wayne Barnett; parents, James Lone and Willie Nancy Ann Taylor Barnett; sisters, Tishie Trice, Fairie Kilpatrick, Alma Rowe, Rosie Kilpatrick, Dean Van Horn, Elsie Hallman and Clara Barnett; brothers, Alvin Barnett, Lacy Barnett and William Barnett; and daughter-in-law, Deborah “Debbie” Moulin Barnett.

He is survived by his loving wife of 66 years, Berline Jones Barnett; son, Ronald “Keith” Barnett (Linda) of Cordova; daughters, Linda Vines Payton (Don) of Adamsville, Donna Reed (Tim) of Dora, Wanda Barnett of Parrish and Lisa Key (Shannon) of Cordova; brother, Nelson Barnett (Willene) of Cordova; six grandchildren, Michael “Blane” Vines of McCalla, Cheryl Vines of Fultondale, Jennifer Barnett Chilcoat (Wes) of Bremen, Greg Barnett (Sarah) of Cordova, and Jacob and Samuel Key of Cordova; five great-grandchildren, Leonor and Mia Vines, Kailey Chilcoat, and Chloe and Connor Barnett.
