Jimmy L. Bagwell, 66, of Carbon Hill, passed away on Saturday, Sept. 24, 2011, at Baptist Medical Center Princeton.

Mr. Bagwell was a loving husband, father and grandfather. He was retired from the U.S. Army, in which he served his country proudly for more than 20 years including the Vietnam War. He was an active member of the American Legion and also a member of the Masonic Lodge. He will be remembered for his service in the community and many acts of kindness. He will be greatly missed by those who knew him.

Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. today, Sept. 27, 2011, at Kilgore-Green Funeral Home. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 28, 2011, at Kilgore-Green Chapel. Burial will follow at Hunter’s Chapel Cemetery. George Barrera and George Krigbaum will officiate.

He was preceded in death by his mother-in-law, Louise McGuff; and Mr. and Mrs. Lloyd Bagwell.

He is survived by his wife, Shirley Bagwell of Carbon Hill; children, Kim Kelley (Tim) of Nauvoo, Jennifer Kimbrell of Jasper and Christy Roberts (Sammy) of Jasper; grandchildren, Blake Mitchell, Allie Mitchell, Jessi Anderson, Macey Kimbrell, Maddi Kimbrell, Dillon Roberts and Summer Roberts; sister-in-law, Linda Mullis (Gordon) of Atlanta; brother, Joey Bagwell (Sharon) of Carbon Hill; sister, Judy Goodwin (Howard) of Parrish; special family member, Ronald Mitchell; special niece, Lauren Bagwell; and a host of nieces and nephews.
