Mrs. Selma Frost Woods passed away Sunday, Oct. 9, 2011, at home in Huntsville. Mrs. Woods was born April 3, 1935 in West Corona to Archie Chilton Frost and Frances Wright Frost. In addition to being a homemaker, Mrs. Woods worked in a variety of occupations before retiring from Chesebrough-Ponds as a quality control inspector. She was a long time volunteer at the Redstone Arsenal Thrift Shop.

Mrs. Woods was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Wyle, Damon, and Harold Frost; and sisters, Jewel Appling and Murrell Harbin.

She is survived by her husband, Charles Woods; children, James Woods and wife, Jeanette, of Huntsville, Michael Woods and wife, Rebecca, of New Market; and daughter, Lisa Woods Dollar of Huntsville. Also surviving are sisters, Vera Files of Jasper and Annette Pendly of Berry; a brother, Hubert Frost of Gulf Shores; six grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

Services are being handled by Spry Funeral Home of Huntsville where the family will receive friends from 6:30 to 7 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 13, 2011. A memorial service will follow at 7 p.m. Interment will be at a later date in West Corona.

Mrs. Woods’ family greatly appreciates the kindness and support of friends and neighbors during the years and the caring hospice worker during her final illness. In lieu of flowers the family suggests donations be made to the St. Jude Children’s Hospital or to a favorite charity.
