James Durant Burgett, 83, of Carbon Hill, died on Tuesday, Oct. 11, 2011 at his residence. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. on Friday, Oct. 14, at Lupton First Baptist Church. Burial will follow at Old Zion Cemetery in Jasper. Bro. Dale Jacks and Bro. Joe Daniels will officiate. Visitation will be at 6 p.m. today, Oct. 13, in the Collins Burke Funeral Home Parlor.

Burgett was preceded in death by his father, Wesley Burgett; mother, Mary Etta Florence Burgett; brothers, Bobby Burgett, Benny Ray Burgett and Franklin Burgett; and sister, Barbara Dooley.

He is survived by his wife, Shirley Ruth Burgett of Carbon Hill; daughter, Pamela J. Kelley (Danny) of Wiggins, Miss.; son, Timothy D. Burgett (Diane) of Carbon Hill; grandchildren, David Walker (Amy), Dusty Walker (Amy) and Michael Vance (Cynthia); great-grandchildren, Hayden Walker, Mason Walker, Titan Walker and Halayia Vance; brothers, Clayton Burgett of Jasper and Terrell Burgett of Jasper; and special niece and nephew, Robert and Mel Dyer.

Pallbearers will be Robert Dyer, Steven Myers, Terry Brown, Glenn Ferguson, Kevin Beasley and Bob Walling.
