Lilley’s work in serving the department on a temporary basis over the recent months has drawn praise from the community and city leaders, as well as Police Chief Keith Parker, who lauded Lilley’s investigative efforts in the arrest of two felons wanted in a string of burglaries around the Oakman area.
“Chuck has done an excellent job in the short time he has been with us,” Council member Steve Windham said. “Our police department will definitely be stronger with an officer of his experience and caliber on it.”
In other actions from the meeting:
•A motion to leave the municipal court bank account at First Bank of Jasper in place of moving it to the Bank of Parrish passed unanimously.
•Approval of the City of Oakman Employee and Police manuals were tabled for further consideration.
•The city’s court and police reports were read aloud.
