Janette ‘Jan’ Deaton, 77, died Saturday, Feb. 18, 2012, at the Baptist Memorial Hospital in Oxford, Miss. A visitation will be held Monday, Feb. 20, 2012, at Waller Funeral Home in Oxford, Miss. from 6 to 8 p.m. A memorial service will be held at Deaton Funeral Home in Belmont, Miss. on Tuesday, Feb. 21, 2012, at 2 p.m. The visitation at Deaton Funeral Home will be held from noon until 2 p.m.

Deaton was a member of Cedar Creek Church of Christ in Oakman. She was a retired convenience store manager and business owner. Jan was preceded in death by her husband, Joe Deaton; son, Jay Deaton; and brother, Jim Smith.

Survivors include a son, Mike Deaton and wife Mary of Oxford, Miss.; three sisters, Sylvia (Milford) Earnest of Oakman, Sue Moore of Paris, Tenn. and Margaret Ginn of Quinton; two granddaughters, Nicki Deaton and Sarah Deaton, both of Oxford, Miss. and one great-grandchild, McKenzie Deaton.
