Members of the Parrish Police Department are planning a town hall meeting with their community to introduce the department’s newest program, Police and Citizens Together or PACT.

Chief Nick Smith said the primary goal of PACT will be to establish a better working relationship between Parrish Police officers and local residents.

The meeting will be held at 6:30 p.m. on March 5 at Parrish Town Hall. Smith said residents, business owners and church leaders are encouraged to attend. The discussion will include any issue affecting the community, from bad driving behaviors to illegal narcotics.

Those who attend will receive a certificate documenting the resident’s PACT agreement with the department.

Smith said the meeting will allow Parrish officers to get acquainted with the residents and the issues that are important to them.

In addition to promoting good will among police officers and citizens, Smith said the PACT program will help both groups become proactive and not reactive to the community’s problems.
