Mayor Jack Scott informed Cordova City Council members Tuesday night that the group has requested four office spaces, which will be constructed at no cost to the city by Mennonite disaster relief volunteers.
“It won’t interfere with voting, and it won’t interfere with Boy Scouts, but we won’t be able to rent it out or have any activities up there for a while,” Scott said.
Scott added that the committee is deserving of accommodations since it has been responsible for more than $1 million in volunteer labor and materials to help storm survivors, including many in Cordova.
In other action, the council approved raising the pay of street department employee Gary Vintson to $11.50 an hour and hired Jeffrey Lockhart as a part-time dispatcher.
