He has been a member of First Baptist Church of Jasper and he is now a member of Farmstead Baptist Church. He was a Gideon for many years. He graduated from Curry High School in 1945. He served during World War II in Germany. He retired from Bellsouth after 38 years. He also began a successful business in which he was the owner of Hi-Pro Oil and worked that business for 15 years.
He was preceded in death by his parents, John Barton Rollins Sr. and Mattie Rowe Rollins; and brother, Loren Rollins and his wife, Bell.
He is survived by his wife, Maxine Tidwell Rollins; son, John Michael Rollins and his wife, Brenda; daughter, Carol Rollins Brown and her husband, Bryan; grandchildren, Stacia Rollins Brakefield and her husband, Jim, John Marcus Rollins and his wife, Jennifer, Emily Brown Gann and her husband, Patrick, and Abby Brown; great-grandchildren, Cain Wallace Brakefield, Reese Rollins Brakefield, Lillie Grace Gann, Andrew Paul Gann; sisters, Lorene Henson, Louise Knight and Polly Baughn; and a host of nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will be Jim Brakefield, Cain Brakefield, Marc Rollins, Patrick Gann, Steve Rowe, Jim Henson, Mike Beasley, George Lum and Charles Banks. Honorary pallbearers will be members of the Gideons.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Gideons.
