She was preceded in death by her parents, McKinley Harper, Sadie Allison Harper Goldsmith and John E. Goldsmith; husbands, Rufus Ferrell of 28 years and Richard Wigsmoen Sr. of 25 years; infant daughter, Betty Lou Ferrell; sons, James M. Ferrell and Rufus Keith Ferrell; granddaughter, Kimberly Sue Ferrell; six sisters; and nine brothers.
She is survived by her sons, Gary (Kathy) Ferrell and Jeffrey (Janice) Ferrell; daughters, Barbara (Vernon) Fowler, Joan Horvath and Elizabeth Ferrell; daughter-in-law, Kathleen (late James M.) Ferrell; brothers, Brown (Betty) Goldsmith and Pervie (Vonnle) Goldsmith; sister, Mary (the late Lecil Meeks and Damon) Coggins; sister-in-law, Dorothy (late Welton) Ferrell; special sister-in-law, Doris (the late Oliver) Goldsmith; grandchildren, Scott Ferrell Lee, Michelle Ferrell, Kenny Fowler, Philip (former wife, Danelle) Horvath and Michael Horvath, Heather (Nicholas) Lynn, Justin (Serena) Carrillo and Jeffrey (fiance Patty Mathias) Ferrell; great-grandchildren, Jakob and Abigail Horvath, Christa, Alexis and Nicholas Lynn; numerous nieces and nephews, great and great-great nieces and nephews, cousins and many dear friends.
Memorial services were held on Saturday, April 14, 2012, at 11 a.m. at Mt. Zion Baptist Church, 6053 Fall City Road, in Jasper, and she was eulogized by her beloved son Jeffrey Harper Ferrell. Family greeted relatives and friends on Saturday at the church. Her cremains were laid to rest beside her husband Rufus in the adjoining cemetery.
