Christine answered to many names: “Teen,” “Tennie,” and Grandmother, but probably most notable as “Muv.” No one can remember the origin of the word Muv, but every family member immediately knows the identity of the lady with this name. She first met her husband, Wallace, at the age of 8 years old. Muv loved her family most of all. She was a very caring person, who always put her family’s needs before her own. She loved to cook and have family gatherings at their home. She loved to laugh, she loved people. She loved her church family and she loved to work outside in her pretty flower garden. She will be greatly missed.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Charlie “Papa” Long and Rose Savannah Long; brothers, Bill, Ellis, Cecil and Charles Ray Long; sisters, Clara Farris and Opal Armstrong.
She is survived by her husband of 69 years, Wallace Farris of Eldridge; sons, Dale Farris of Eldridge, Mack (Karen) Farris of Fort Smith, Ark., and Ken (Pat Kimbrough) Farris of Fort Smith, Ark.; a daughter, Cindy (Larry) Hall of Carbon Hill; grandchildren, Teri (Jeff) Smith, Tami Farris, Brett Cooper, Daniel Cooper, Lee J. (Savanna) Farris, Melissa (David) Vitalie, Erin (Will) Rhodes, Ryan Hall and Stacy (Mike) Courington; a sister, Patsy Tucker; and a brother, U.L. Long; and also, Eloise Farris, Shirley Dodd Farris and Wanda Farris Gray.
The family wishes to express its heartfelt gratitude to Mary Lou Nix, Gladys Wilson, Jo Ann Todd Brenda Darty and Sandy Taylor. We also wish to thank the staff of Comfort Care Hospice and especially Lori Jenkins, Lynn Guthrie, Jeff Chambless and Gail Bice.
